Tea Time Therapy was created to provide a safe space for people of different cultures and backgrounds to come and feel heard. The stigma behind mental health is still very prevalent and that is why we, here at Tea Time Therapy, recognize how important and difficult the step of reaching out is. Our goal here is to use holistic, evidence based approaches to meet your unique needs. We are a diverse group of therapists focused on helping you and meeting you where you are. Confidentiality

The therapeutic session is a safe space where a client needs to build trust and feel comfortable sharing. Confidentiality is not only a legal concept but a vital component of the therapeutic relationship. The Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA, 2004), requires personal health information including case notes be kept in a secure and confidential server. As such, Tea Time Therapy utilizes Jane, a HIPAA compliant server, to protect all sensitive client information. This platform also provides encrypted Video calls to ensure clients confidentiality it protected throughout.

Regulated Quality

The Psychotherapy Act of 2007 had regulated the act of psychotherapy to health care professions equipped with certain credentials. The College of Registered Psychotherapist (CRPO) is that regulatory body within Ontario. The CRPO defines the controlled act of psychotherapy and who is able to practice under it. The CRPO define this act as: “treating, by means of psychotherapy technique, delivered through a therapeutic relationship, an individual’s serious disorder of thought, cognition, mood, emotional regulation, perception or memory that may seriously impair the individual’s judgement, insight, behaviour, communication or social functioning.All of the therapists at Tea Time Therapy are registered with the CRPO which provides rules and regulations to ensure client safety.

Evidence Based approaches utilize methodologies and techniques that are empirically sound and researched. These methods are often seen to be more effective. Evidence based practices promote effective psychological treatment through assessment, intervention, reporting and case management. Our therapists are trained in a variety of evidence-based approaches, such as: Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, Gottman Method, and more
